“The moment Teddy Perkins stepped on set I knew we had to capture every moment perfectly” FX Atlanta

The house sounded simply amazing, the acoustic quality allowed every breath of dialogue to feel like it was recorded on a foley stage.

and it was as if every scene brought in a new sounding experience for our characters. The beautiful architecture and wood and unusual shapes and lines in this home brought an incredible acoustic sonic palette for the dialogue to sit in. One of the first real challenges was to find the perfect placement for Teddy’s wireless lavaliere mic. As far as the artistic and creative look of the episode, DP Christian Sprenger frames we’re typically very creative with a lot of head room so lav mic’s needed to sound very natural and have lots of air which often means hiding on the character in plain sight where the camera cannot see, but allowing for a lots of air around them mic. His wardrobe which was rigid, starchy and noisy so we ended up needing to get creative

The first rig we tried was actually on the clothing and and the first couple set ups we shot we’re in the wardrobe room as he shot a big ole wide of him walking around the manakin which was maintaining the head room of the manakin he was walking around which was both captivating and beautiful but this also meant it would be out of the reach of the boom for useable dialogue. What we ended up landing on with Teddy after trying a couple different rigs that we’re really working that well was an excellent sounding hair rig which worked beautifully for the entire episode.
