A small town location and legendary story comes to life. Nancy Drew And The Hidden Staircase.
When producer Chip Diggins reached out to me by phone to discuss the upcoming project Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase I had a feeling that Mr Diggins had something special in the works and his hopeful optimism and carefully crafted interview questions for me really intrigued me on this Warner Brothers feature released in 2019. The cast, crew, production staff and producers seemed like family as most smaller features do.
Taking place in a small town Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase was actually a reboot from the original Warner Bros. production release in 1939 featuring Sophia Lillis as Nancy Drew who’s recent projects included Beverly Marsh’s box office hit “It” directed by Andy Mushietti and also well known and iconic Linda Lavin from 1976’s hit TV series “Alice” playing the strong, dynamic and witty grandmother. Sophia Lillis and Linda Lavin were the perfect fit for those roles that can be described as a perfect alignment of American culture and timing of empowering young women in our society.
One of my favorite parts of being a part of this film was seeing the theatrical release in my own neighborhood and seeing all the Dad’s and daughters going together. We need more films like this in the industry making a positive impact on our youth to empower young women to be bold and dream big.
